Two destinations in one day — and they complement each other perfectly.
Frigiliana comes first. Consistently voted one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, it sits in the hills above the coast, a maze of narrow cobbled lanes, whitewashed walls and flower-filled balconies. Its Moorish heritage is everywhere — in the layout of the streets, the architecture, the tilework. It's genuinely lovely, and rarely crowded.
Then down to Nerja. The Balcón de Europa — a clifftop promenade jutting out over the Mediterranean — is one of the great viewpoints of the Costa del Sol. The old town is relaxed and walkable, the beaches below are some of the best on the coast, and there's no shortage of good places for lunch.
A morning in the hills, an afternoon by the sea. Two very different places, 15 minutes apart.
Optional drop-off at the Nerja Caves for those who wish to visit — one of the most impressive cave systems in Europe (entry not included)
