Tarifa sits at the very edge of Europe — the point where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, and where Africa is close enough to see on a clear day. It’s still a real Andalusian town — whitewashed, wind-blown, and shaped by the Atlantic., with a relaxed vibe that feels completely different from the Costa del Sol.
On the way, we stop at Baelo Claudia — a remarkably intact Roman town set right beside the ocean at Bolonia beach. It’s one of those places where history suddenly feels very real. Today you can walk through the ruins with the Atlantic behind you and the dunes of Bolonia ahead. Entry is free.
