Antequera
Antequera
Antequera sits at the geographical heart of Andalucía — equidistant from Málaga, Granada, Córdoba and Sevilla — and it shows. Every civilisation that passed through Andalucía left something here: Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Christians. The result is a town with an extraordinary density of history packed into a very walkable centre.
The day starts with a guided tour of the old town — an hour exploring the Alcazaba, the Renaissance churches, the Baroque bell towers and the quiet squares that feel entirely off the tourist trail. Then two and a half hours of free time to have lunch, explore at your own pace, and discover the town yourself.
The afternoon takes you to the dolmens. The Menga and Viera dolmens are among the largest and best-preserved megalithic monuments in Europe — enormous stone chambers built over 5,000 years ago, long before Stonehenge. A second guided visit brings them to life. UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016.
An easy, relaxed day — no serious walking, no rushing. Just two guided visits and time to breathe in between.
